Over the past few months, I have been asked numerous times about the current Mental Health situation.
The NHS prescribed a record number of antidepressants last year, fuelling an upward trend that has seen the number of pills given to patients more than double over the last decade.

The figures raised questions over whether the rise shows doctors are handing out the drugs out too freely or whether it means more people are getting help to tackle their anxiety, depression and panic attacks.

Prescriptions for 64.7m items of antidepressants – an all-time high – were dispensed in England in 2016, the most recent annual data from NHS Digital showed. That was 3.7m more than the 61m items dispensed during 2015.

Let me start this blog by asking you a question. If you are booking your children in for swimming lessons would you be happy with them learning from somebody that had never swam but had done a couple of weekend coaching courses and possibly learned from books or videos? Every year on New Year's eve people sit and write there new years resolutions. What they don't realise is that their chance of success is minimal and they have increased the amount of pressure in their lives hugely. To use an example, I personally have lost 6.5 stone since May 2016. This was not done by having a goal of losing weight. Rather it was an effect of eating the right foods at the correct times based on the activity done during the day. These actions resulted in me losing weight. Equally health challenges that I have faced are no more than the result of bad diet, lack of exercise etc. So by your action, you can control.
